Which documents are normally required to export from India?
A commercial invoice and packing list are common starting points. Depending on the shipment, requirements may include a shipping bill, certificate of origin, transport document, LUT or tax records, permits, inspection or product certificates. Your appointed customs and compliance professionals should confirm the final list.
What is an Incoterm and why does it matter?
An Incoterm helps define delivery responsibilities, costs and risk transfer between seller and buyer. It influences which transport and destination services the exporter should arrange, so it should be agreed before freight is quoted.
How should export goods be packed?
Packing should suit the product, mode, handling points, climate and stacking exposure. Air cargo needs dimension-efficient strength; sea cargo may need moisture protection, robust pallets and compliant timber treatment where applicable.
Can TCSL advise whether my product is prohibited or restricted?
We can flag known carrier and transport restrictions and ask for supporting details. Export controls and destination import rules are commodity-specific, so regulated products require confirmation from the appropriate authorities or specialists.
Is cargo insurance included in the freight rate?
Not unless expressly stated. Freight charges and cargo insurance are separate. Cover can be explored using the commodity, invoice value, packing and route; carrier liability is generally limited.
